Privacy policy

This policy explains how RuralWork handles personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

From job seekers with an account: email address, name, phone, nationality, visa type, location, availability, transport, the “about you” text you write, your CV if you upload one, the jobs you save and the applications you send. From employers: email address, business name, ABN, contact name, phone and website, and the jobs you post. From anyone who reports a listing: the report and, if you choose to give it, your email.

Who sees it

When you apply for a job on RuralWork, the employer for that job sees your profile, your email, your phone number, your CV if you’ve uploaded one, and your message. No other employer sees your profile or CV. CVs are stored privately and opened through links that expire after two minutes. Employers’ email addresses, phone numbers and ABNs are never shown publicly. Only an employer’s business name appears on listings, plus anything the employer chooses to write in the listing itself.

How we use it

To run the site, check employers and listings, pass applications to employers, handle reports, and contact you about your account. We don’t sell personal information.

Where it’s stored

Our data is held by service providers including Supabase (database and login), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (email), which may store data outside Australia.

Access, deletion and complaints

You can see and edit your profile in your account at any time, withdraw applications, or ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@ruralwork.com.au. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
